Area Information
Mountain Island Lake
Perhaps the most appealing feature of the Overlook community is its location on Mountain Island Lake, which is part of the Catawba River chain of lakes. Any resident can launch a canoe from the neighborhood's shores. Whether you're interested in fishing, boating, water sports or quiet contemplation of nature's beauty, you'll delight in the opportunities Overlook provides. Boat slips throughout the community allow Overlook's boat owners to keep their watercraft close to home.
Lifestyle
Life with nature
Overlook is a natural choice for those who love the outdoors. Pass through Overlook's stone monument entry and you are greeted by a half-mile entrance flanked by towering pines and hardwoods, as well as beautiful landscaping and flowers. Wooded walking trails wind throughout the neighborhood, connecting homes to two community parks, picnic areas and the Swim and Tennis Club.
Overlook Swim and Tennis Club
All residents can take advantage of the Swim and Tennis Club, which features: a clubhouse for private and community events, a competition-sized pool, tennis courts, sand volleyball courts, and community boat slips.
Overlook Park
The community's meandering trail system connects to Overlook Park, a large wooded common area overlooking Mountain Island Lake. The park includes a gazebo with a fireplace for cookouts, a picnic area, a basketball court, a playground and a community boat launch.
Caring for the environment
Crescent Communities received a Blue Thumb Award from the Mecklenburg County Water Quality Coalition for Overlook, the first Crescent community on Mountain Island Lake. The coalition recognized the efforts to protect the lake's watersheds with 100-feet shoreline setbacks, installation of flush basins, landscaping guidelines and other erosion control procedures.
Close to Charlotte
From shopping to arts to entertainment, you can find it in the growing city of Charlotte, N.C. You can lose your cares at Overlook and still enjoy the convenience of living just 15 minutes from uptown Charlotte. The community is close to regional shopping at SouthPark Mall and Concord Mills, Charlotte's uptown cultural district, major employers and a wealth of restaurants and entertainment venues. Highway 16 connects residents of Overlook with major regional interstates, I-485(2004) including I-77 and I-85, making it easy to reach Charlotte, N.C., Columbia, S.C. and the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport only 15 minutes away.
